Safeguarding

The care and protection of children, young people and adults involved in church activities is the responsibility of everyone who participates in the life of the church.

Safeguarding - we're here to help

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of The Parish of Winton, Moordown and Charminster takes seriously its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. We work to prevent abuse from occurring, seek to protect those who are at risk of being abused and respond well to those who have been abused.

This Safeguarding Statement applies to all who make up the church ‘workforce’ which includes all clergy, holders of Bishop’s licence or permission, those commissioned or authorised by the Bishop, those, paid or unpaid, who hold positions of responsibility in a parish and work with children or vulnerable adults, and those with representational parish ministry, for example; churchwarden, organist, server & choir members. All our staff and volunteers undergo DBS checks (Disclosure and Barring Service) and safeguarding training offered by the Diocese of Winchester.

We strive to protect all in our care and take all concerns very seriously. If you are concerned that a child or vulnerable adult has been harmed or is at risk of harm, please do not hesitate to contact the Church or Diocesan Safeguarding personnel for advice and support.

If you wish to report an allegation of abuse from the past, or in the present, please do not hesitate to contact us. Your information will be treated appropriately.
